Norris Electric Now Offering New Satellite Internet Service
Exede by Viasat Goes Beyond All Previous Satellite Broadband Experience
January 19, 2012 - Norris Electric Cooperative was among the first sites in the United States to activate broadband internet access via satellite with speeds starting at 6 megabits per second (Mbps). This new service, Exede by Viasat, brings the equivalent of current wired broadband to the most remote areas of the nation. Norris Electric invites all to come into its office to try it for themselves.
Norris Electric is an experienced and reliable provider of satellite internet. It has served hundreds of subscribers in its area with Wildblue by Viasat dating back to 2005. Wildblue speeds topped out at 1.5 Mbps but with Exede the basic package starts at 6 Mbps. Norris Electric, working with the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC), is now prepared to begin activating next generation web access at affordable rates.
Office hours for demonstrations of Exede by Viasat are Monday-Thursday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. A representative will be available to discuss pricing and other details for extending this exciting technology to area homes.
